Sorry this isn't really rocko related but I thought it is an important topic.
My mums Nissan has a rusted hole on the outside of the A post on the drivers side.
Would It be safe to weld a plate over it or scrap the car?

A plate would get you through the MoT, but obviously it would be better to chop a small section out and weld in new metal.

welding a plate over it will trap moisture and actually make it rot out faster. if you're planning to keep the car any length of time, do a proper repair

that said, for mot purposes, fill it, sand it smooth and paint, and they'll never know

I've sorted it now ended up fibre glassing over the hole and painting.
I did take it to a body shop that told me this piece of metal that had rotted was a skin over a stronger piece inside, they were the ones that recommended fibre glass so it would not rot again.
Tbh I am more worried what it would do in the case of an accident.
