Hi All,
Just a little advice regarding water leaks on a mk2 scala, I found a fair amount of water pooling on the L/H and R/H flat panel just above the rear bumper mounts. After some time spent in the boot on a very rainy day I found the source of the water. It wasn't the usual spots (light units, rear lock )etc. It came from the tailgate support strut mounts on the rear channels. I held up the tailgate with a lump of wood and removed the strut mounts.I found that there should be some rubber washers that fit around the bolts on the underside of the mount. I found one in tact and the others had perished to the point of dissintegration. Four metric o rings and a dab of silicon to hold them in place while fitting, has cured the water ingress. I still have a small leak that is coming from the L/H rear light cluster, which will be fixed when and if the weather gets warmer.
On another note has anyone had experience getting the dash apart--I am looking at another Rocco that has a very bad ly cracked dash around the air vents.
I have owned Scirocco,s for well over 10 years and find them easy and a pleasure to work on.
Gerry

Re: MK2 Waterleaks
The dash board is quite easily removed if not a bit diddly and time consuming, best done with a mate for ease!

Re: MK2 Waterleaks
Thanks for the reply--sorry I haven't got back sooner-been down to Devon for a break. I have a few jobs coming up on the existing MK2 Scala. I have a couple of small holes appeared in the boot inner wing on the r/h side near the filler pipe. So its tank out, pump out, etc. Its a pity as I had the boot resprayed about 12 months ago and the mig welder is going to make a mess of the paintwork. Lump and gearbox will have to come out--bottom end rebuild and new crankshaft oil seals, new clutch and the clutch return spring replaced in the gearbox. The car is a J 91 Scala injection and has done some 190000 miles and is getting tired. I am looking for another one to use as a temp replacement as she who MUST be obeyed w'ont drive anything else!!
