A previous owner has clearly allowed the drivers door to open beyond it's limit, maybe caught in the wind or worse? When I got the car it had the typical door sag so i shimmed the top hinge with a washer. Trouble is you can see the poor shut lines..
Hinge shimmed at back with washer..
The actual door striker needs adjusting as you can see from above (I have new ones to fit).
Shimming the hinge has put the door forward but I still think that somehow the hinge has been slightly bent and the whole door sits forward. So what do I do to get it back to better alignment? Bend the hinges? New door pins? I don't have issues with fixing the dent at the rubbing strip just want the lines of the car back to normal for future paint work.
pushing the hinges back is an option but in the past when i have done this it can cause more damage (the bodywork will bend before the hinge!).
equal size spacers top and bottom will bring the door back but make sure you make them out of ally so they wont rust, this way youre not bending anything to get it back to shape.
It's my understanding that that any spacing like the washer I have put in the top hinge to stop the sag will move the door forward increasing the gap at the striker end. It's like both hinges need to move back? Job for a pro with a torch?
Or are you saying that having spacers on both hinges will equal the gap out?
If the original incident had enough force, I'd imagine it could have bent the A-pillar where the hinges are bolted on. No matter of adjusting would sort this out, other than attention to the pillars themselves. Try to compare the bodywork around your hinges to one or two other Sciroccos with good door-fit, to see if there's any obvious warping of the shell.
If it looks ok, trying new hinges might be worth a shot.

Ah sorry i see what you mean now. There's really no choice but to try bend them back but what damage it mite cause to rest of the body mite be considerable but worth a shot.
The door hinges are bent. its been hit on the drivers side door at some point.
The best way to fix this is to remember how far the door is out and where.
Remove door.
Method 1,
Find a good strong bar about 4/5 foot long. drill a hole in 1 end. Then with a nut and bolt, bolt it to the offending hinge and bend accordingly, same with the other1.
2, remove door. With a lump hammer, hit the offending hinge sharply till satisfied.
