Hi all. I thought I would start a little story on here following the purchase of my new motor. Has been owned by other members on this site before.
Well to start with, I picked it up from Marc on good Friday and drive 160 miles home. Did have to return to his house after the first 5 miles as I found out the rear drivers side brake union was cross threaded with too shorter pipe so it kept peeing brake fluid out on each press of the pedal. Luckily Marc whipped a spare off his mk1 golf that he's breaking and we had it fitted and bleed in no time at all.
Had a slight problem when stopping at a services on the M6 though. After filling myself with coffee and cake, I went back to start the car. Started ok, but as I sat there I began to wonder why somebody had swapped my 4 cylinder engine for a 3 cylinder whilst my back was turned!!!
Found all sorts of problems with the ht leads and cap. Decided to carry on as it ran fine once I got going.
Saturday came and I fitted all new plugs, leads, cap and rotor arm. Think I need to try an ignition amplifier too!
Air intake pipe and filter done. But still 3 cylinders when hot and have to pump throtal when cold.
Any body have similar issues to these before?
More to come with pictures too...
