temp gauge gt2

hi as the title says ive got a gt2 1988 scirocco with a temp gauge that does not work looking in the engine bay there are 2 senders fitted into the top hose next to the engine one red one grey not sure what they are for but they are all connected fine next there is a sender fitted into the right hand side of the cylinder head i think this is for the temp gauge looking at the wiring there are 4 wires not conected to anything one yellow/black one brown one red/yellow one green/black these are next to the dizzy the temp sender in the block has a blue wire does anyone know what the wires could have been for or if the temp gauge wire should be blue thanks

Sender on the side of cylinder head is usually the low oil pressure sender.

Thanks. Forgot to say mine is the carb model. Also I think the fuel gauge is not working aswell. How hard is it to remove the clocks

Not hard. There is a description in one of the FAQ's about removing the clocks - I think it is probably in the FAQ about changing the illumination bulbs.
