urgant help needed
Hi all driving my rocco round today in the sun loving every minute so on way home thought I.d put my side lights on then bang car started filling up with smoke from steering coulm I.ve just put an aftermarket steering wheel and hub on it but it only was 1 red wire the horn starts as soon as you turn the wheel so me bein me takes the fuse out get a lot of clicking but who cares I.m out in my rocco turned lights of and it stopped smoking so I guess its down to the new steering wheel and aftermarket hub havin no earth can anyone help thanks Jules

Fuses are there for a reason! I would be changing the headlight switch and putting the original steering wheel back on mate after checking the wiring is not burnt out!

Shit turned it off then put the lights on and they still work tho thanks for the help

Yeah have you also changed your steering wheel and hub mate I got the wheel and hub of I bloke who said it was on his scirocco for 5 year or so but it only has 1 red wire

Have you got a wiring diagram for the car?
Look in the Haynes manual for this.
Also make sure also that you have the proper wiring and Especially insulation on the new wheel.
Check the fuse box to see what goes where.
The fuse boxes in 'Roccos and Mk1 Golfs have (allegedly) been prone to water coming in and doing a bit of damage.
I've seen a Mk1 Golf go up in flames.
