I've now owned for 5 months and decided i want more power, better handling. Once those 2 items are sorted i will then tackle the interior and exterior.
I've looked though alot of other post but they somtimes go off in tangents i dont understand.
My questions are which engine is the most straight forward to fit?
2.0l 8v or 2.0 16v.
I will be using my friend whose a mechanic to replace engine but i want to do all the leg work to save bothering him.
I fitted a brand new Weber carb to my 1.6 engine could this be reused on new engine?
Where's the best place to look for an engine?
Hope these questions dont appear silly just don't want to waste money.
Thanks in advance.

I know it's not 2.0l but how difficult would this change be?
Thanks
James

Re: My 1986 Scirocco 1.6 GT project
Stock Engines for Mk2
EW – 1.6l 8v carb approx 75BHp
Easy upgrade is to an EX as very little needs to be changed.
EX – 1.8l 8v carb approx 90BHp
Easy upgrade would be a KR on side-draught carbs. Fuel injection requires new pump and fuel lines.
DX – 1.8l 8v K-jet injection approx 110BHp
Easy upgrade would be a KR running K-jet injection.
KR – 1.8l 16v K-jet Injection approx 135BHp – Import (LHD) only
the easiest upgrade for your car(EW) is the 1.8 carb(EX), if you want to get the 1.8(KR) engine in your link you will have to replace the wiring and plumbing for fuel(or just a fuel pump if you fit dual carbs to the 1.8(KR) engine).
