Renewing bushes etc.

I want to sharpen up the handling in my '82 GTI - the steering seems a bit vague compared to other Sciroccos I've driven. I think this is mostly going to be down to worn bushes - I'd expect they're all the original 30-year-old items. I'd like to replace them with OEM standard parts (not poly) as I just want to get back to a new factory feel.

My questions are:
1) can you give me an itemized list of the bushes (front and rear) that need to be replaced?
2) are there any other parts I should think of replacing at the same time?

Front Wishbone bushes
Front ARB bushes inner and outer
Front top mounts
Rear axel bushes
Rear strut lower bushes (these might be ok would need replacement strut)
Rear Top mount bushes
Rear ARB bushes inner and outer

I would also do the ball joints and track rod ends

And you can buy a near full kit - i do recommend powerflex tbh Ed - even on crap London roads they feel great as far as i am concerned.

For rubber bushes I used..

For the rear had to go to VW Heritage for the anti roll bar inners and outers. Got two part Polys for rear beam from Rally Design as they are easier to fit and cheaper than other suppliers at the time. These were bought sticking to a budget and with road use in mind but TBH never got them all fitted as I had to scrap the last Scirocco. Still got them all to hand for the GT2 I have now.

Cool, thanks for the link. Between AVS and VW Heritage I've managed to get everything except the rear axle mounts (which are expensive if you can get hold of them).

Just need to find a reliable supply of Sachs gas shocks now - rears seem to be no problem (although several options and I'm not sure which I should be getting), fronts largely unavailable. They've mentioned corrosion on the rear shocks for the past couple of MoTs, so they'll need replacing eventually and if I'm doing all the bushes, that would seem like a good time to do it.

Boge Turbo gas shock inserts are made by Sachs. GSF sell these, replaced mine on the Scala a couple of years ago as well as the rears and the springs and bushes.

Yes, no-one seems to have the front shocks though (I can only find oil-filled fronts), and everyone lists at least two versions of rear shocks with no further information about the difference between them - any ideas?

Just had a quick look on the GSF site, have you enquired about part number 455VG0290? Are these gas or oil filled inserts?
