Ok, just picked up a 1988 1.6 GT - Pretty pleased with it over all.
Anyway, get it back home and I whipped off the intake pipes etc to have a look at the carb, and to clean the air filter. Put it all back together again and now it idles at 3000ish rpm..Kinda annoying.
Any ideas?

My mates did this. Check all the vac lines are attached correctly - we changed his air filter then couldn't remember where they all went to! If they're all in the right place then one may have a small leak or split when you took the filter housing off.

if you're sure they're all on in the right places, spray them with carb cleaner. if you spray over a vacuum leak the engine note should change

I'm actually starting to think it's something to do with the throttle cable, if I pull the pedal up the revs drop and sometimes it feels like theres a snag somewhere..All looks of and clear like..bit it's so damn fiddly when it gets to the carb end..Just don't know where to start.
Is the cable supposed to run under or over the air intake?

is the spring still located on the carb end to return the linkage to the tickover position?

Mine did that....there is a panel that fits around the pedals and the throttle pedal was catching on that so it couldn't return properly.
If the RPM drops when you pull the pedal back it can only be the pedal end because if the restriction was the other end the cable would just buckle rather than close the throttle.
