Re: 1983 GTI +
Unless you are in need of the money, don't rush into any decision you may then regret. It's not actually costing you anything just being there. At this stage there is no knowing how long you will be unemployed. Are there any jobs you can be doing on the car which are not costing money? Having a some...

Re: WINSTON 1988 GT MK2
Might be worth leaving a bolt screwed in or a rubber plug when not in use to stop crap getting in.
But with your attention to detail, you've probably thought of that.

Re: Hood cover for my cabriolet
Mark, Thanks for that, there are 3 on e-bay, as Mr Brown says, but risking a couple of hundred pounds on one that might not fit is a risk I don't want to take! Are you planning to go to the club meet in summer? If you are maybe you could search me out and share some more of your esoteric knowledge o...

Hood cover for my cabriolet
Does anybody know if hood covers (for when the hood is down) are available for early Golf cabriolets (A1 chassis, like our Sciroccos) as I believe the hood on Mk2 Bieber cabriolets is the same.

Personally I prefer the look of the 17s, but the deeper dish of the 15s you have.
Awesome project look forward to seeing it in all its glory in real life.

Just looked at the posting.
"No major issues"! I wouldn't like to see what the advertiser's view of a major issue is!
Also very expensive for a car in such poor condition.

Re: New here, but not to Sciroccos, looking for another...
The rear subframe mounts are not an easy job, a fairly common area for corrosion in my experience. To repair they need a new mounting point/bodywork strengthening section welding in. As this has the bolts to carry the rear sub frame it needs to be located accurately for the car to be straight when f...

Dash warning lights
The fuel level and water temperature warning lights on my Mk1 work intermittently. Sometimes when they are off the turn indicator warning will flash through the ignition light and once it caused the rev counter to 'bounce'. Seems to me like an earthing fault. What earthing connections should I check...

This is an absolute bargain for a car which has been comprehensively restored by Rust Republic.

Re: Pearl Green Scala - various jobs
Have a good check on the condition around the rear beam mounting points. They can be subject to rot. Better to find out now whilst you've got it all stripped off.

Check the sub frame where the rear beam mounts.
