Re: Noisey Tappets

Forte additive has a good reputation, it may resolve the issue, depending on the history of the engine, or it may be just a short term fix. Mine has intermittent tappet noise at certain temperatures, despite using Quantum oil, regular changes and a generally clean engine internally. For the cost of ...

Re: HELP rocco wont start and need it ASAP

It didn't look like it, but are you sure the dizzy cap isn't 180 degrees out?

Re: HELP rocco wont start and need it ASAP

It may be worth earthing the king lead near the back of block, take out all of the plugs and crank it open with full throttle to clear out all of the fuel in the cylinders. Then try again, if it still doesn't work, there may be a coincidental fault with the coil or ignition amplifier. Sent from my ...

Re: HELP rocco wont start and need it ASAP

It does look right, is it the cap the same as the original (terminal type)? Is the carbon springed carbon pin inside the cap there?

Re: HELP rocco wont start and need it ASAP

If you replaced the cap, double check you have the leads fitted in the correct position and order. 1,3,4,2 with no.1 at the notch on the dizzy body top rim (under cap).

Re: MK1 CIS fuel supply

If you haven't done an injector test, I'd do one before changing the fuel distributor. Carefully remove all four and set them up to spray into a container to check the spray pattern and flow. You could also do a quantity test. There are quite a few Jetronic guides on the web that detail how to do ...

Re: Mk2 1.8 RHD Clutch Cable

Be careful if you fit the short one, you need a few millimetres play at the pedal. If there's no play or slack on the cable, the clutch may slip and it will shorten the life of the release bearing.

Re: Stanford Hall - 5th May 2019

Just a minor point, the admission is £12 this year but it states £10 in club stand pass info - maybe a copy over from last year or a benefit to clubs. Either way, just to save confusion at the gate...

Re: Thermostat

I recently bought a Circoli stat from Euro Car Parts, it's been in a couple of months/couple of thousand miles ago, engine temp is steady in all conditions.

There was a couple of options on the website, with and without a seal... temperature ratings were the same between them.

Re: Factory rear inertia seatbelts - Mk2

Possibly never fitted to UK cars, but this is the picture which got me started on this, it's from the Scala page on Dr Dub's website info: http://www.sciroccoregister.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/plaidint.jpg And then I looked in the parts catalogue: https://volkswagen.7zap.com/en/rdw/scirocco ...

Re: Factory rear inertia seatbelts - Mk2

It did have 3 point static belts originally, but I fitted the aftermarket Securon belts. As I have to replace one of them again, I'd like to go for the original type.
It may not be possible, if they're not fitted at build.

Thanks for updating with the photos Dave. I'm definitely going to fit this type soon, a few more worn parts to replace before I do.

Warning - Damaged Positive Battery Cable

Thought I'd share this experience: I replaced my radiator at the weekend - the battery positive cable to the starter motor and fan wiring were cable tied to the cooling fan housing, once I'd removed the radiator and fan assembly I noticed that the insulation was worn through down to the copper on ...
