Re: Gear linkage bushes replacement - DIY or not?
anything to avoid jacking up a car is a good thing in my books
I found it was easy putting the linkage together except for aligning the spline to get the full range.
I discovered that if you put it into reverse or 5th, then set up the spline, all other selections find themselves. easy.

I'm sure he'll be on here before long. If he restores it to any standard like his golf then it'll turn out very nice, hopefully he wont mind me sharing his thread. http://vwgolfmk1.org.uk/forum/index.php?page=topicview&id=projects%2Fyour-mk1-golfs_2%2Fmk1-golf-restoration_2

Re: Gold '79er
Soooooo a replacement metering head has seen the engine run and idle! I've found a good local mechanic who normally works on aircooled stuff and restores some rather rusty lookin campers to....well...rusty looking campers!

Getting a 16v Conversion Started!
Well its seems like I'm right on the cusp of having my 16v fire into life, but no cigar as of yet!
The engine cranks, but doesn't fire. Turn it once, then stop, then turn it again and it will pop so I know there's at least little fuel.
I'm basically a complete norn, so I'm wondering if someone can ...

Re: Gold '79er
Wow its been a while since Ive been on here! The guys who were to get the rocco MOT'd and running basically did nothing for a few months, so I took the car back after a few frank discussions.
The controls and lighting are all okay - the engine turns over, but I think the timing is so out its not ...
