Great work. Mine has been running a 1.6 SB for nearly 9 years and 53,000 miles now. Averaged 51mpg according to the app on my phone over this period.
I didn’t bother with a glow plug lamp. The click from the glow plug relay is quite audible so you know then the plugs are up to temp.

Re: Bilstein b4 / Eibach pro-kit
I think a B4 damper is just a basic gas damper that is valved about 10% stiffer than standard. I got them for Balance Motorsport.
The Eibach springs I got from Graham Goode Motorsport and spoke to the man himself about the springs.
I must have read somewhere that they're matched together. The ...

Re: Bilstein b4 / Eibach pro-kit
I've had Bilstein B4 and Eibach Pro-Kit springs on my Mk2 for nearly 4 years and 30k miles without any issues.
When I bought them, Bilstein said they were a suitable match for Eibach lowering springs and Eibach said their springs were suitable for B4 dampers.
This combo is the best I've tried on a ...

Erratic guage readings!
I've got a weird problem with the coolant temperature and fuel guage on my Mk2 Scirocco. It has happened a couple of times in the past 12 months but now it has happened three times this week.
There's two different scenarios:
1) Both guages will over read by 5-10%. If I turn on the dipped beam ...

Sorry I am seven months late uploading the photos!
Sorry again for the crappy quality. They were only taken on my phone!

Re: Engine conversion. Any people who can do it? TDI
Sorry for such a late reply.
The Golf GTD loom won't be any use. You need a loom from a Mk1 Golf or Caddy 1.6d. Plus this into your fusebox instead of your existing engine loom. Add the glow plug relay to location 2 on the fuse board (injection relay) and hey presto, it all works by magic!

Re: New diesel project. !
I've had both a 1.6na diesel and a GTD diesel in my Scirocco. The former only did 90mph flat out. The latter has more torque than a GTI and will happily out drag one when moving. GTD is the way to go! 59mpg at 70-75mph a happy side effect!

Re: Mark 2 tyre pressures, non-standard wheels
I've has 195/50 R15 for years and have always run 29f and 26r.
No issues with tyre wear or life.
VW dropped the pressures on later models to make the steering extra heavy!

You can easily test the buzzer. Just unplug one of the switches and rev the engine over 2,000rpm.mark1gls wrote:Glad you got it sorted now, at least you know the buzzer works incase the oil pump does lose pressure.

Re: Keeping your cool with an engine conversion
Radiator is 18 months old. Thermostat is working - warms up nice and quickly in cold weather. Can normally feel heat at the vents within half a mile and that includes when it was -10!
I think a bigger radiator must be a natural next step? If VW could have got away with a 525mm, I'm sure they would?

Re: Keeping your cool with an engine conversion
Hi Mike,
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
It's not a TDI, it's a 1.6 GTD from the Mk2 Golf. More in keeping with the era of car!
I'm running standard Scirocco clocks. I've checked the part number of my temp guage with the one in a Golf diesel and they're the same.

Re: On M25, oil light and buzzer's come on...
Check that the wiring for both oil pressure switches isn't rubbing anywhere. If they've rubbed through the insulation and touch metal, your light will come on.
Will only take you a minute to check and rules out wiring issues.
