Re: Fog lights, Yay or Nay??
Definitely NO! They look aftermarket and boy racer. The classic Scirocco lines look much better without, sorry.

Re: Pothole
I had a similar incident years ago in a mk2 Escort, hit a pothole around a bend, took out the front strut, wheel and tyre. The pot hole had already been filled once by Cardiff City Council, but the rain (we get a lot in South Wales) had managed to break up the repair. So I contacted the Council and ...

Re: Show us your Mk2 - picture thread.......
Welcome back, car looks really tidy! I'm curious what was the cause of the non-starting after it's long lay up in the end? I remember there were loads of suggestions on here of things to check. It was timing in the end, way out. The only reason I didn't persue this route is that my mate (qualified ...

Re: Show us your Mk2 - picture thread.......
Owned my Scirocco for 13 years now, just turned 90k miles, one female doctor owner before me, new from Bridgend VW Sinclair in August 1992. I replaced the cambelt at 60k and again last year at 89k, pretty mint and standard (except for the grill, hate the standard spots/fogs).

Re: Fuel starvation weber carb
Ok, thanx for that. I can rule out the carb, it's brand new. As for the filler neck, I have a brand new one of those too, just waiting to put it on, so will check everything else around that. I don't really like tampering with things that VW put on the car (apart from carb) so will go down the route...

Re: Fuel starvation weber carb
I have exactly the same problem, everything has been replaced. I've got a brand new Weber carb and its just been tuned, hydro carbs are 182. The car runs brilliantly until I bury the pedal into the carpet, either overtaking or accelerating up a hill. Whenever I do this it hesitates then picks up, fe...

Re: Fuel filler pipe
Yeah, my car is 21 years old and the pipe hasn't actually fallen apart, but getting close to it. Big flakes of rust came off in my hand on the outside of the pipe!

Re: Fuel filler pipe
With that in mind, I'm glad I've gone for the proper one. Would like to keep the car as near original as pos (bar the weber and grill). Just can't believe vw messed up with this, in application and availability!

Best oil grade?
Hi everyone, just wondering what the best oil to put in my Rocco? It's a GT2, on a k plate with 89k miles on the clock. Currently running with 10/40 should I use a thicker oil like Halfords' new classic car oil?

Re: Valve Stem Oil Seals
Took the rocker cover off today and actually the gauze didn't look too bad, so soaked in Gunk and refitted. I could blow through the gauze with ease afterwards, so I will give the car a run this week and see how it goes, I still may try the 'Forte Seal Conditioner' just as a back up before deciding ...

Re: Valve Stem Oil Seals
Wow, thanx for that, will look at it over the weekend. My car has only done 89k, and 60 of that was with one lady (Doctor) owner.

Valve Stem Oil Seals
Hi everyone, Got my Scirocco back on the road after an 8 year lay up. It's running fine but has the dreaded blue smoke on start up and gear change/deacceleration, which points to hardened valve stem oil seals. My question is, does 'Forte Seal Conditioner' work as a short term solution as a mechanic ...
