Re: Spotted

Saw a red MK2 with a black Scirocco decal along the sill/door bottoms driving past the Towcester McDonalds with a bunch of other VWs today.

Mine was tucked away in the car park, so probably didn't get a return spot.

Neon 80's Scirocco Photoshop

I've been listening to an alarming amount of New Retro Wave and This Video gave me the craving to make an 80's style poster for the Scirocco. So I took this photo and turned it into this:

Re: Driving the dream?

The fact that the Scirocco is so small and low is exactly why I love it. It's like a toy.

It's even lower than my girlfriend's StreeKa:

I didn't want to bombard my car with stickers...

...so I made a sticker board instead. That way I can display them if I want to, but hide them if I don't. Should fit nicely on the parcel shelf if needed.

I've got a few more to go on, but they're in the boot of the car at ...

Re: A little bit slippy

I meant to update this. It does indeed seem to be getting better with use. I dropped the psi to 26 as recommended by the sticker in the door area and drove the car for a bit, maybe with a bit of wheelspin for good measure and it seems to be at least drivable now.

I still plan to get some decent ...

A little bit slippy

So I bought some BBS RZs with tyres for the Scirocco today and it's all gone a bit slippy. Almost dangerously so. Some info:

Tyres have tonnes of tread (the ones I took off were on advisories).
Suspension setup hasn't changed. Wheels appear to sit fine on the ground (not on either edge etc).
Less ...

Re: suprisingly quick

Had my Scirocco weighed on an agricultural weigh station once and it came up as 0.96 tonnes (completely standard). They're pretty light!

Edit: Just found the photo:

Re: Finally a dry Sunday, so who was out?

Another quality Sunday spent tinkering with the Scirocco. Finally gave it a good clean and wax ready for the meet next week.

The roof is finally red, rather than the slightly matte pink it was before:

Re: Finally a dry Sunday, so who was out?

I was out, making some changes to the Scirocco, although I did get some driving in too.

Removed the rear wiper:

And added a few new stickers that I made at work out of etch effect window vinyl. First one was based on ...

Re: Spotted

Spotted in Banbury today. Seemed to be in very nice condition, or at least very shiny:

Rear Wiper Blank

I took my rear wiper mechanism off to fit a Scirocco sticker under the spoiler. Sticker went tits up, so ended up in the bin, but I liked the look of it without the wiper, so it's staying that way. I have a rubber blank for now, but it's not a decent fit.

Can anyone recommend a decent fitting blank ...

Re: Running with no sound deadening

Removing mine hasn't made any noticeable difference to sound, both in and out of the car. Could be because it was basically powder before I removed it though.

Running with no sound deadening

So I finally got round to taking off all the old, nasty sound deadening from under the bonnet. I'll probably replace it eventually, but it's currently on the "nice to have, but other things take priority" list.

So my question is, is it OK to run the Scirocco without sound deadening? I assume the ...
