i got some mates rates on the go for my respray, got it for £370 not including paint. paint was about 110 i think. this is a massive saving but i helped the boy out with stripping the car down and masking!

heres some pics from just after the respray, nice polish and wax, looking nice and shiney!! Trim needs some work and bumpers need resprayed...ill get round to it eventually!

well when i was investigating the grommet was loose and without it there is a hole straight into the fuse box basically.
the grommet itself looks in good nick just doesnt seem to fit the hole.. should i just just the old grommet and tiger seal it up??

after some investigation it seems that it is in fact a leaking grommet under the scuttle! I think the windscreen has a very small leak so will have to be done at some point but has dropped down the priority list!
i am somewhat relieved as this is should be much easier to fix than the windscreen ...

i have a few after the respray but ive just moved flats so not on my computer atm, ill try and post a few later! my new place has a nice garage so fun times will be had working on the car!

hi DT1,
a mechanic friend had a look and thought it was the seal. he said that if I can get a new seal he would refit the windscreen for a small fee! I also didn't think it would be the seal but don't know where else to look!

I have tried my local dealer but according to them the part is obsolete. I also had a look on VWHeritage and could not find one on there either. I will have a look at VW classic parts.

hi guys, new member here.
I have a 1989 GT which I bought last summer.
I am having a problem with the windscreen, its leaking and the water seems to get into the fusebox...which in turn leads to a dead battery!!
I have been trying to track down a new windscreen seal but so far have not had any ...
