Hi all, The Scirocco has had a few running problems recently, loss of power under load etc. It's been in the garage for a week now, had various replacement parts (fuel filter, fuel pump, coil pack etc.) with no joy. The guys took the fuel tank off to check it, and guess what? The fuel filler neck ...

UPDATE...

The tracking was massively off, and Dave has tightened everything that can be tightened and lubed everything else and it appears to be fixed!

Well.... I'm quite happy to fiddle with the electrics, bodywork, interior, cooling etc...

But anything that involves the car stopping or turning goes straight to the experts!

Luckily we've got a damn decent mechanic down the road (obviously he's called Dave), and he's having a look right now.

I'll admit I'm nowhere near a mechanic, so bear with me... The wife has just come home from work and said the steering has "gone" in the 'Rocco. Apparently it turns fine in one direction to the left, but when she tries to go right the steering wheel turns way too far before the car actually responds ...

Good call cheers - so far I'm keeping the gearbox, carb, wing mirrors, interior mirror, alloys, head unit, boot carpet, parcel shelf, exhaust.

Anybody want anything else?

My '88 Scala auto was just written off, and we got a £2000 pay out from the insurers (their first offer) so somebody thinks they're worth that...

Update - the insurance company came through with an offer of £2000 with no prompting - it's a Cat B right-off though :-( Luckily my local mechanic is getting it delivered to him and he's going to strip it of everything worth salvaging, so I may have some parts available soon if people need them. It' ...
