Photobucket

Hi,

We have had so many problems with 'Photobucket'. Why does the whole of the file gets transferred to your website?

This should be so simple; why are so many people having a problem in uploading pictures?

Is so much easier with 'drag and drop', a jpeg image, so why can that not be available on ...

Re: Post pics, sig pics and avatar sizes

I'm trying to put pics on my ad.
I can't drag and drop or copy and paste.
These pics have been resized smaller.
Can you make it a bit easier to do this?? Used to be photobucket.
This site is good apart from the above.

Thanks

John

Re: Cleaning the interior of lights

You've shown the fog lights. not the inner headlights on your pics.
Can you clarify, esp about the dishwasher!!

Cheers

Re: Boot damp...rear light leak?

It's maybe not lights.
I've tried that to no avail. (It didn't work). Try it first though.
What I've done is seal the spoiler and boot lock (it seems to have worked).
Also seal the gas struts where they are attached to the car body.
I loosened the rear spoiler and put a bit of sealant under before ...

Re: Red light flashing on and off in dash instruments.

I had this prob once in my Mk2 GTX with the temp light flashing.
I had oil going into the header tank, due to the oil cooler on top of the oil filter breaking down and mixing the oil and coolant. Also had overheating. There was no mayo under the rocker cover.
After a lot of invesigation we found the ...

I agree, but I would clean the 'shaft'. and put a little grease on the bendix.

Re: urgant help needed

Have you got a wiring diagram for the car?
Look in the Haynes manual for this.
Also make sure also that you have the proper wiring and Especially insulation on the new wheel.
Check the fuse box to see what goes where.
The fuse boxes in 'Roccos and Mk1 Golfs have (allegedly) been prone to water ...

Village Idiot

Good stuff. I think that I may be the second oldest.

How's it going. All of our experience. I passed my test in a 1962 Singer Gazelle!!!
A lot of these youngsters (allegedly) don't know how to drive in snow, ice etc. (seen 'em).
Should be part of the driving test.

Sorry - shouldn't ...

Re: Lowering my new mk2

What's the point of 'lowering'?
Mine was lowered when I first bought it and it handled like a pig - like one of those racing speedboats in a rough sea.
To my mind it was very dangerous. I had it put back to normal spec - brilliant!
After all, I think that the German engineers knew what they were ...

If you replace the tappet 'buckets' be sure not to start the engine until at least 30 mins afterwards.

Re: looks like oil and water to me...

Had the same prob. Oil in the header tank. No mayo below the rocker cover. It was the oil cooler.
It's water cooled so the water & oil mix with the oil cooler on top of the oil filter, breaking down.
Had loads of people look at it and flush it all out.
Get a new oil cooler while you can flush ...

Re: Rear wheel arch repair sections.

I think you can still get these from Germany (about 60 euros a pair).
Also try GSF -they should point you in the right direction.

Re: Timing Belt Aligning Marks

Use a bit of Tippex on the pulleys when you take it apart and DON'T rotate the crankshaft.
Make a note where everything is. Much the same with all 8 valves. Be careful.

Re: Boot damp...rear light leak?

Not the light cluster.
Try the spoiler. It's not very well sealed over the 'years'.
Tried it all with a bit of sealant and this sort of worked.
I think they are not like the VW Beetles in the early '70s. 'They Float!!

Happy New Year
