Re: Re Kjet woes
On reading your description again, you say the accumulator was badly corroded and did not appear to be maintaining pressure. Being under the car they always corrode externally, but was it actually checked and known to be faulty? Or was it just swapped by a garage cos they thought it looked a bit ...

Re: Re Kjet woes
Well, you need to borrow a K-Jetronic fuel pressure tester, check the pressures, (system & hot/cold control pressures) and test that your injectors are not leaking which it sounds like they may be. Do the checks yourself man! I don't like the sound of your 'reconditioned metering head' it may have ...

Re: Question mk1 rocco door
Why are Scirocco owners such tightwads!! I mean, £250 for a new door in 2009, when it would have been probably £400 in 1980 from VW. I say bargain.

Well this would seem to conflict with that: http://mk1vw.info/img/faq/Scirocco/80/3.gif Scirocco "S" Sportseat http://www.mk1vw.info/img/faq/Scirocco/sciroccoi9.jpg These are definitely some kind of 'Sport' seat, I know they aren't leather, but my point is really which foams do I need! Mk1 Golf GTi ...

These are the seats in question:
Did the 'sports' seats only come in leather then? I thought these were the sports seats, must be mistaken

Question regarding Mk1 seats
The fabric covering the seat base in my GTI is all 1 piece unlike the Storm's 3 leather sections. I want to renew my seat foams and need to know if they are the same 'Sports' seat foams. I know for certain that the leather Storm seats have the 3 part base, with 2 side bolsters and a cushion. But can ...

Re: can i get more fuel from k jet
You need a pressure gauge set to test K-Jet. They are available from USA for a decent price, or borrow one. That's what you need to correctly adjust your whole system. If you suspect it's going lean at high RPM you can fit a 16v control pressure regulator, they have a vacuum hose to add extra fuel ...

I have re-jetted a Weber DMTL dual downdraft in the past, from a 1.6 to 1.8, think some jets and emulsion tubes needed changing. There are carburettor specialists with websites who will help you

Re: Lightened Flywheel
I have a lightened flywheel on my Mk1, with the 1.6 GTI engine. Throttle response is amazing! Maybe slightly more vibration from the engine at idle, but once moving it is just as smooooth, really responsive to throttle blips, revs up almost instantly. Too much fun!
