Raintray UPDATE 17-11-2012

Post by Blueshark »

Goodday all,

As many of you may know is that the raintray under the front window of the MK II Scirocco is no longer available from VW (out of stock since 1-9-2007) or Classicparts but on many of the Scirocco's the part is broken and could do with replacement.

Now I get questions about this part every week and I am looking into having it remade.

The partnumber of the raintray is 533 819 411 041.

Image

So this is the black plastic cover over the fanmotor and the windscreenwiper motor.
As far as I know there is no difference in LHD or RHD

The only difference from the original is that there is no VW or Audi logo.
The VIN number window is coming in, it took some talking to get a descent price but we came to an agrement.

Knowing that having a template made by copying an new raintray I have left is very costly I would like to inform for interest in this part.

To get clear of investment cost there would have to be 50 pieces of the raintray made and sold.

The raintray was sold over here last for a price of £.54- and the expected costs for the new made ones would be around £.36-

These prices are without P+P to the UK but maybe a pick up or bulk shipment is possible.

If interest is good enough I will make an order form with details about payment and so on.

So if you are seriously interested send me a PM or put it up here.

I will also make this anouncement on the Dutch and German Forum so the 50 pieces could be reached.

Greetings, Joost

Joozt, I would prefer to wait for the American raincover. If it is like the previous MK1 version, it should be made of a more thicker plastic and be quite durable. Or are you thinking of a remake along similar lines?

The ones I am having made will also be a bitt thicker than te original but also with the window in it.

When there is enough interest I am having them made so I will not be stuck with a great number of raintrays
for the next ten years and an empty wallet. :help:

I'm interested too. Would like it with markings for the "window" so we can cut out the VIN view plate if so required.

If you make a hole for the vin view you would have to close it up with some seethrough plastc otherwise the water would still get into your fan.

The location on the "window"is there only not opened up.

Change: the VIN number window is coming in.

Hi everyone. That is our mold here in the US. We already completed the S1 trays and many have sold here in the states for the last few years. The S2 trays will be available here soon. I can set-up a group purchase for these to ship in a batch to keep the shipping costs down, or ship to you directly once they are available. My partner is also in Germany and I plan on shipping a batch there as another source for European distribution. Our trays have no ribs and are smooth. Volkswagen originally added the ribs for strength due to the thin material but we stepped up the thickness to allow a cleaner looking tray that will also last longer.

Little update.

Template is beeing made as we speak and production is getting started in 4-5 weeks depending a bit on the summer holidays over here.

Two things have changed, 1 beeing the price gone up a few Euro's because 2 is that the VIN number window is coming in.

A lot of people asked about this and after some talks with the producer we worked this out.

As soon as I have the order form in English I will let you all know.

First order from the UK has arrived. :good:

Now for the rest there is a combined shipping possible to keep the cost of P+P low.
