VW still sell the flanges, I bought one a couple of years ago, I think it was about 7 or 8 quid.
As stated be careful with undoing the old one.

Re: 1983 GL Barn Find
I've got a couple of spare reversing light switches of that type - the plastic one that includes extra connections (for the economy meter I think) ... hopefully one of them will work, or I'll pull them apart and see if I can find out what's not making contact the way it should. That's the one, mind...

Re: 1983 GL Barn Find
Nice find, reminds me of my first MK2 back in 1988.
If I remember rightly I had reversing light problems as well, I had to buy a new switch that fits onto the gearbox (you could buy these from the dealers back then!).
Same sun visor headlining in my Storm as well.

Yes, they will fit with no modification required. I have these in my Scala, and they sound good. Mac Audio make nice speakers as well, I have a set of these in my Storm. http://www.google.co.uk/url?url=http://www.tanbycaraudio.co.uk/mac-audio-street-915-2-160w-6x4-speakers.html&rct=j&frm=1&a...

Re: Help with basic upgrades
Welcome along mate. Your car should be capable of a decent MPG, easily in line with modern cars (except a diesel). A Weber carb is the usual replacement for an old worn out standard Pierburg carb (decent when new but few people know how to maintain them these days). Make sure you get it set up right...

Re: Mk2 Sunroof Seal replacement
Strange that your sunroof doesn't tilt as well as slide as all factory fit Scirocco sunroofs did? Are the guides broken? Anyway, to fit the new seal you will have to remove the sunroof panel, it is a ball ache of a job and much easier with an assistant. If you have access to VAGCAT, go to the sunroo...

Re: Electric work required mk1
Sounds a fairly easy list to solve with a few hours and a multi meter. First things first, have you checked the fuses and changed relays for known working ones? Pump, I'm assuming you mean fuel pump? If so is it an injection car as a carbed fuel pump is mechanically driven? Heater, have you checked ...

What issues? The reason I ask is the electrics on both MK's are basic and fairly easy to solve problems.

If people were happy with the hotel (I heard no complaints!), and the venue is Cosford again, then I will arrange the same hotel once the date is set.

A cork gasket was origianlly fitted when new but an uprated one piece rubber one can be fitted from a MK3 Golf (after changing the studs).

Looking at some of the German spec L models in the Drivers Found website, it does appear the lower spec models didn't have them! http://www.google.co.uk/url?url=http://www.driversfound.com/scirocco/&rct=j&frm=1&q=&esrc=s&sa=U&ei=cZRFVI7pDMHjywPe5IHwAQ&ved=0CBQQFjAA&us...

Re: Rear wiper - Not working
Get a multimeter on the terminals on the motor and get someone to push the stalk forward, if you don't get a reading then you have no power, if you do the motor is goosed.
