Re: Rebuilding JUCY
Well, it was a fail for a couple of reasons, a wiper blade fell apart on my way to the test when I used the washers. The other was the tester poking holes in the sills by the beam mount. It also wouldn’t start on the ramps, inlet boot fell off the manifold. Then it wouldn’t start outside the garage,...

Re: Rebuilding JUCY
Still looking badgered and has been sat on my driveway for the last month with me having the intention of putting it through a mot. It has one booked for tomorrow, so see what happens.
I’ve been a bit distracted with Project Tubbs, my partner’s scirocco, but maybe we’ll have 2 road legal ones soon.

Re: Idiots' guide to replacing alternator belt please
Hi Rosie, There is a 13mm at the other end of the bracket with the toothed adjustment which is best to slacken off and the allen head pivot bolt for the alternator itself, this behind the upper cam cover, which if it's the earlier metal type also needs unbolting. It's held on with 2 10mm nuts on the...

Re: Rebuilding JUCY
On my way home from work around 10.30pm Jan 2021 and hit a badger on a quiet country backroad. http://www.zen235015.zen.co.uk/vw/2021_Scirocco/Badger_night.jpeg With some cable ties I was able to drive it the short distance home, as nothing critical on the car was damaged. But significant damage to ...

Re: Rebuilding JUCY
Seems I forgot to keep this up to date. Had a few issues over the last 3 years but with a broken collarbone in the summer of 2019 and covid lockdowns over 2020 and 21 the car hasn't had a lot of use. Had an issue with the indicator LED not working with the indicators on, traced to a broken circuit o...

Re: 9A scirocco engine conversion
Early 9A engines used the KR cylinder head, later ones used the ABF, from what I've read, there's no difference to how they behave, in standard tune at least. The KR and 9A block are much the same externally and if one fits in the engine bay, so will the other. All Corrado models were fuel injected,...

Re: 9A scirocco engine conversion
I have a 9a in my scirocco, which has been in there since 2007. I’ve used the rod change 020 gearboxes and my original 100mm driveshafts. For the exhaust I used a cheap raceland 4-2-1 tubular manifold designed for the mk1 golf and had an exhaust built to fit the car eventually. I originally used a s...

Re: Fuel hose replacement
I’ve just replaced a chunk of fuel line with this after doing a chunk of research into fuel line that good quality and ethanol resistant. Not cheap but I’m hoping I don’t have to replace it again as it’s a job I’ve done a few times now in the last few years due to old hose perishing very quickly. ht...

Re: GTX Diesel - Was it yours? C131 BHA
Thought I recognised the car, a friend of mine had it converted to diesel and I think had the black leather put in it. He's said if it's still cut out, he thinks there's a cut off fuse under the aluminium scuttle. If you are still stuck with it or want more info about it, he's said to drop him a mes...

Re: Rebuilding JUCY
Hi H, all is well here thanks for both Claire and myself. My vehicles don't seem to have the best reliability record when abroad, the T4 had to be bump started at the barrier into Bokel's campsite a couple of years ago, by Huw and Charlie I think. Also had to be push started at the ferry port checks...

Re: Rebuilding JUCY
The next 2 problems were linked and became apparent on the North Wales road run. On arriving on Mr Mender's driveway, the brake pedal went to the floor on the first attempt to stop. The second press of the pedal everything was back to normal, no sign of a problem and the pedal didn't sink. Is the ma...

Re: Rebuilding JUCY
During the winter layup the clock LCD had bled in the top left corner and was slowly spreading with the car being used. http://www.zen235015.zen.co.uk/vw/2018_Scirocco/Broken_lcd.JPG Not a problem I thought and rummaged in the garage for a spare set with MFA, except my spare set were motometer clock...

Re: Rebuilding JUiCY
So a long time and no updates again. Last year was a bad year for Jucy in the reliability stakes. The first item on that list was a poor quality rubber fuel line which had rotted over the 2017/18 winter hibernation and on the waking up leaked about a quarter of a tank of petrol onto my driveway. htt...
