Scirocco Register

Hi, sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, I couldn't find it if it did!

Been told I ideally need a new clutch and g/box. I've got a 1987 5-speed 1.6 8v carb scirocco.

However, eBay and forum searches can only show me a 1.8 8v 5-speed gearbox. Will the 1.8 8v fit? and will it ruin my ratios?

Any advice would be seriously appreciated!

UPDATE.

My gearbox code is 4T, 90mm flange diam, 190mm clutch diam.

How strict are these requirements when looking at other gearboxes?

Flanges can be swapped over so not an issue if the replacement box had 100mm flanges, dont worry about the clutch as long as its an 8v box from a mk1 or 2 golf/jetta or scirocco the clutch will mate up just fine, have a google for vw gear ratios as there are a few charts online so you can see which gearboxes have similar ratios to yours..
