Scirocco Register

Is it normal for the Scirocco backing plates to be the reverse of say, a mk2 Golf? Ie: the lip of the plate doesn't actually "shroud" the disc. Instead the lip faces inwards towards the inner wings. Are they all like this or has a previous owner refitted mine incorrectly?

They do face away from the disc bud.

Just found it a bit strange as every other car I've had, has them covering the disc.
