removing front mk2 bodykit

is there a special technique for removing the front section of the bodykit (just the bit along the front, under the bumper)?
i've removed all of the securing screws i can find, including the ones behind the two circular blanking plates. its almost off but its snagging on both upper corners where the blanking plates are. i can just about see some rubber gasket type things that might be holding it on. i don't want to pull too hard and crease / tear the plastic

(just fyi, i need to take it off to get the numberplate mount off. took the two front screws out, then realised its also secured from behind.)
i know ther'll be unsightly holes where the numberplate mount was, but i'll smooth them when i respray my bumper and wing mirrors.

thanks for any help.

Haven't removed one yet but Haynes shows some sticky pads, might be what's catching.

Or if it's been off before someone may have used sealant on it.

I'm sure that this was discussed not too long ago.

yeah that sounds like it. i might be able to squeeze an exacto knife in there and cut it. its sealed / taped / something further down too.... but not as securely. still look a small amount of paint off though :( luckily on the overlapping part though.

Its stuck on at each end with a vertical strip of glue about 3cm inboard of the seam split.

thanks. eventually managed to get it off. as you said, theres a strip of rubbery adhesive down the side, but theres a big blob at the top so that was the stubborn bit. got one side off with an exacto-knife, but snapped both of them on the second side so had to finish the job with a burly kitchen knife.

The adhesive is "sikaflex". Make sure you reapply it when putting it back together.

i'll be taking it off agin in the not so distant future to smooth it so its just held on with the screws at the moment. i love sikaflex, lovely almond smell when its still wet, pain in the arse when you get it on your favourite jeans though.
