Scirocco Register

So yeah, my heater always blows heat, which as you can imagine in this weather is getting tiring!

I have everything off, but still some hot air leaks out of whatever vent is currently selected. It's not blowing the air out, just a slow stream of hot air.

Any ideas? Someone mentioned a while back about a valve/flap not closing properly. Anyone care to describe it to me again? Pictures would be even better!

If you could make any advice proper idiot proof, that would be grand! If I can take something off, I can put it back on again, but I've no clue about the names of various parts!

Pop the bonnet over next to the brake servo are the two heater hoses going to and from the heater matrix one of these has the valve on them, with someone sliding the control from cold to hot the arm on the valve should move from open (hot) to closed (cold) if theres no movement then probably cable or cable mechanism if there is movement then maybe your valve has broken internally assuming it looks good externally and the arm hasnt rusted and broken

Right, I've had a look from the outside of the valve deeley, and everything seems normal. The cable moves freely and the arm turns as normal.

Does that mean something within the valve is knackered or could there be something more serious elsewhere in the heating system? I don't get fumes in the cabin, so I'm guessing there isn't a leak of anything?

I'll be replacing the valve either way, just want to be sure I haven't got a leaky heating system!

Now that I'm home (was at work) I have another question. How the bloody hell to I get those clips off? They're the big metal bastards that are either side of the valve.

Is there any way to do it without bending the metal too much? I'm assuming they're tight for a reason and I'd like to keep them that way!

Wahoo! It's fixed!

It must have been the valve. Got a new one from GSF and it's fixed the problem.

I think the little cylinder bit in the valve must have slipped round a bit so that it was misaligned with the arm, meaning that it didn't close properly. It's so nice to have cool air coming from all vents!

£11.50 well spent methinks!
