radio and heater only work when i hold the headlight flasher

Hi everybody, i went to get in my mk2 this morning, started her up as usuall, then when i went to turn the heater on nothing happened and like wise when i went to turn the stereo on. Last night both were working fine :s, Any way i carried on driving and when i flashed someone the heater started working for a split second then when i let go of the flasher it turned off again. can anyone think what this might be or has anyone had this problem before?? thanks Alan

Check your earth strap is connected from the coil bracket to the rocker cover

its never had one of those? but was working fine :S

Heater and radio are fused together, so check your fuses to start with.
As for the flash, I'd assume there's just some path between the circuits that gets made by the headlamp flash.

Fuse number 3 is for the radio, interior lights and clock!
