Bushes?

I'm in the process of refurbing my rear beam, and am not sure weather to get standard or polly bushes

what are the pro's/con's of each? how much do they affect ride quality and performance?

the car will also be getting new suspention, going for gas shocks, and lowering springs, around -40mm i think

Anything is better than the ones you have fitted now. OEM from GSF about £3 no brainer really!

POly at the front, standard at the back gives a superb ride. I find that poly all round a little harsh.

i hated frankenrocco when i put polybushes in it. just became way to harsh on anything other than mirror finished tarmac. and lets face it, we ain't got many roads like that in this country

Right failing a little here to get standard bushes

VW do the midde ARB bushes, but will only sell the beam bushes as part of the bracket a £42 per side

GSF dont do em at all

EPC might do the beam one, but they got it listed as a rear wishbone bush??

If you want genuine bushes then vw classic parts in germany do the ones vw here dont or you can get them through big boys toys who are now their uk stockist otherwise standard febi bushes would be the next best thing, been a while since i looked at prices but unless genuine bushes are stupidly expensive then thats the way to go, rear wishbone bush unless listed under rear axle will be the rear bush of the front wishbone

Rear wishbone bush is likely to be the rear bush on the FRONT wishbone and will NOT fit the rear beam.

If you want the standard VW rear beam bushes then you have no option but to shell out the £42 per side to your local dealer, unless Big Boys Toys can do them cheaper.

Speak to Roxylife, he has recently bought new OEM-spec bushes.

Just thought. If you're doing the rear beam then I'd replace the clamps as well. God awful job

Just in case you are not sure what he means - he means the outer ARB clamps around the trailing arms.

Thanks for the advice all, have spoken to Roxylife, I am able to get the bushes from Crazy Quiffs, and the beam mounting ones are ony £32 a pair!

i will have a look at the brackets, hopfully this shouldn't be quite so bad as the beam is off the car at the moment

Do you mean the - "SPF1555 - Rear Beam Axle Mount Bush & Stainless Steel Tube - Pair" because they look like polybushes, in the picture on the site, to me.

I did notice that, but the ARB bushes they list have the same pic's for what sound like the standard ones, and the polly ones.
I'm hoping that as they dont say polly, they're not.

I'll be ordering from them over the phone anyway, so will check and update here once i know what they are - thanks for reminding me!
