Hi guys n girls - I'm new to the scirocco world so just starting my research! I've been in the polo scene for quite a few years now and I have just about finished my latest G40 project and decided that the next car on my agenda is going to be a Mk1 Rocco... Just a couple more weeks to finish my other G40 then the recent project will be up for sale to make way for a Rocco... I actually tried to buy one 18months ago but stumbled across a mk1 polo that was too good to pass up...

Here's the mk1 (had a light rear end so is in storage at present with big plans - but for another day)
Image

This my current G40 Conversion project - an Oem Arctic Blue Polo Parade Shell with a quite decent spec G40 engine.

tints now removed! quick engine shot...

My main G40 which is undergoing an overhaul at present and is going back to oem with the addition of bigger brakes/wish bone conversion sub frame.

And my E30 for those who are interested...

This is my old Polo 6n 16v on GSX-R600 Carbs with my Mk2 GTI 16V

And finally the car that started the years of madness - Relaxi Taxi - definitely not going to be to some peoples taste but it was by far the most fun car i've ever had!

Anyway thats a quick intro... I'm basically looking in to what has been done engine wise in mk1 rocco's and what platform the bays use to sus out whats possible/feasible! I reckon I need to get to a meet and just see whats what and pick some peoples brains but any links or pointers around this area would be great! Also are there off the shelf coilovers available?

I will be on the look out for the right shell from now on!

Cheers

cheers guys! not so much of a car whore these days; only the two G40's and the beemer that remain... lost all my storage space  but on the upside it has made me focus on one car at a time rather than little bits on all of them!

Winston - will try n tag along whenever saf next heads over to see you...

Any mk1-er's heading to all types this weekend? I'll be there in Bluey... so if you see me give me a shout! Quite possible that i'll be a tad merry as I will be breaking the detox!!!

After reading your history any advice on this by PM would be appreciated.

Also can you recommend a CHEAP fault diagnostic finder for the same car or know of one for sale at a reasonable price ????????

Thanks in advance.

welcome along! I may well have the shell your looking for if your interested, it would cost you around 2k but you wouldn't need a welder. ;-)

cheers for your responses...

old mac roc - afraid thats not an engine i'm familiar with... those engines are alot more common in golfs... sure it cant be anything serious, sounds like the ecu could be in limp mode or its got a vac leak... if it isnt running badly and it just very slow its not likely to be ignition based... could also be a blocked fuel filter...

81GTI - that sounds v interesting! I have got an ace bodywork guy but i'd much rather start with a solid base!!!

Chaps - the black G is my baby! its going back to oem+ though... subframe with wishbone conversion, original BBS RA's but in 14's not 13's then raise some cash for a resprasy CANT WAIT!
