Hi All
In the project section I introduced my current 84 storm project
I hav swapped in a new engine (from a H reg Scala) but the engine will not fire.
Engine has good compression (130,140,130,150 psi)
I have spark
I have fuel getting to the injectors which fire when the sensor plate is lifted
Valve and ignition timing looks Ok (no.1 cylinder being pointed to when no.1 piston is a maximum compression)
The fuel pump runs ok when engine is turning
oddly - there s not even the attempt to fire - it just cranks....
Any suggestions on what i am missing...?
Cheers
Ian

I had a very similar problem and it turned out to be be one or two severed wires. Hardly helpful but always good to consider every avenue

i had spark that looked ok with my old gt but eventually turned out to be rotar arm. look really closely at the whole ignition system.
If you pull one injector out and crank it over do you get fuel?

The thin blue wire running from the alternator and one that powered the Wur.

i had a 924 once where it was the plugs - sparking ok on the wires but not in the plugs...

update - got engine to start and run today:
Solutions were all/some of the below:
1) Cleaned all earths at fusebox - many very bad
2) Adjusted camshaft timing - do NOT believe the marks on the pulley - always check the cam lobes to ensure No.1 is closed!
3) Swapped in rotor arm which did not show infinite resistance!
However - running the car highlighted a serious oil leak from the oil filter housing - I had changed this during the installation as the new engine lacked one - but slightly damaged the gasket surface during the process. This, plus insufficent torque on the 3 bolts resulted in a leak under pressure (more of a pouring actually). I have removed it, used some chemical steel to try to fill the unevenness of the surface and reattached the filter housing with the bolts torqued higher - I hope that when i try to fire the engine tomorrow - this seats correctly. I am reasonably confident it will.
Engine sounded OK when running though and after 4 years laid up, i was pleased with that.
Cheers
Ian
