What coilovers do you use?
Well now starting to do work on the rocco and first thing first is drop it. On my last rocco i had some venom coilovers but just want to find what others use and what they find best. I want some that are going to last etc etc. So what do you guys recommend?
Re: What coilovers do you use?
Id go up to about £400 as there are a lot of kits out there below and around that price.

I personally dont have much experience with sub £400 coilover kits, but there seems to be plenty out there!
For that money i'd be looking for guarentees and other peoples experiences, but 'AP' kits seems to get pretty good write ups, as well as 'JOM'.

I had the venom ones on my Mk3 VR6, they were the worst thing ever done to any car i've ever owned.

Re: What coilovers do you use?
Just to ad to this thread. Need to change my front suspension as well with coilovers. Previously had a set of Yellow Koni struts on standard springs. Very stiff at the beginning but hard on springs, struts have now had it. What coilovers take a good bashing and enable tight cornering. Ride comfort not important nor height????

AP all the way, run them on two cars - for the money they're very good.
As Mr Funk says - if you can stretch to the fully adjustable Weitecs they are excellent - on the scala with d90's they ride better than the AP cars, the GTL and the 16v.

If you add another '0' to your budget I could build you a set of 3way Ohlins dampers

haha if you saw my student overdraft at the mo you would not be wanting to even spend £400 haha. Getting bits of money coming in now though so its time to get the car how i want and need it.

I don't have first hand experience of the AP's - but they get good feedback across lots of different Dub forums.GTXTRA wrote:AP all the way, run them on two cars - for the money they're very good.

Seconded - well thirded really!Mr Funk wrote:Weitecs all the way
I'm running about 5-10mm lower than the old bilstein kit that was on the car when I bought it, and the ride is about the same - maybe a bit better, not that the car gets driven hard very often. They are a lot of money - I bought mine when I had disposable income (or no kids!).
TBH I've only ajusted the front rebound setting once, so a top brand shock and spring combo is the way I see myself going if the Passat ever needs new suspension...

Apart from the one's mentioned above, has anybody any experience of a good set of FK's or H&R's on their Scirocco. Just looking at all possible options before I burn my bank balance.

Re: What coilovers do you use?
Thanks Chris, I'm in Germany at least three times a year. Bought a second hand set of FK's for my MK3 golf GTI for little money there, can't fault them and they transformed the handling of the car. Looking at a range of sets including H&Rs, would just like to know if anyone else has them or recommends them, or is it back to AP's or Weitecs.
