I was talking to Old Mac rocco last night about this mate. I have both an early and late DX engined Sciroccos, and the throttle bodies are different on them. OMR sent me a Pm picture of the throttle body he has, and it looks the same as my Storm's (1984 vintage), maybe worth getting him to send it to you and giving it a whirl.

Does anyone know whether a TB from a 1981 1600 EG engine will be suitable?

Hi,
Sorry to have taken so long to get back to you but been a bit busy lately.
Spoke to Ian last night as I was having problems with identifying VW Part Numbers and we both reckon it is the right one.
I aim to try and get six pics and PM you tonight with pics and price.
I don't want to send it to you and find out it is the wrong one.
As a matter of interest do you have the numbers on the 18 mm square plate on the front side as you look at it? Just to see if they tally up.

Be in touch asap.
Sorry once again.

The early cars had a throttle housing without the throttle switch for 'cold acceleration enrichment'.
Old Mac Rocco's picture above looks like one of the later throttle housings with the switch.
This can be retro fitted to the earlier cars - part numbers are as follows:

Throttle housing with switch - 067 133 063 AC
Parts Set - 027 198 999 A - this consists of a diaphragm pressure switch with connections and securing parts
Wiring Loom - 533 971 780

I cannot see any problem with fitting the later throttle housing (if that is all you can find) to an earlier car without all the extras. Just set up the basic throttle valve setting like you would the early housing.

I would imagine that if the bores on the EG engine throttle housing are the same as those on the early Mk 2 cars, then Ryan's would fit.
