Scirocco Register

Been trying desperately to sort two on going problems and ended up 15 (yes15) 10amp fuses down and still none the wiser.

First problem is: The fuse for the fog lamps and rear number plates goes as soon as I switched the lights on. Tried isolating everything I can but been doing it for so long I think I'm just chasing my tail. Odd as it all worked yesterday with no problems.

Second problem: Don;t have any speedo/rev counter lights. All the bulbs seem fine and all the other lights work. Any idea which wire it is coming off the speedo unit please, may be related to problem No:1

Which fuse number?
Could be a problem with either main headlight or foglight switch, or both, assuming no wires in the circuit are shorting out.
Have you checked that the terminals to the rear number plate lights and/or on the switches have not become disconnected?

The dashboard lights are the blue/grey wire into the plug.

After hours and many many fuses turned out all it needed was the relay poking.

Still, all sorted now

Problem has returned. Groo.

poke the relay with a big stick?

or a 2lb spanner?

Swearing an oath to Cathulu and a dozen fuses revealed the problem to be the single black wire that plugs into the fuse box.
Aren't vw's run?

Although now a different fuse trip when I pull for the windscreen washer. Just going to swap the wires and run it off the rear one I think.
