Rear ARB

Yo,
Am I right in thinking you need to drop the rear beam in order to fit one? Had a look today and don't see how you cab affix the bolts for the rear brackets?

It's been a while since I did mine, so memory could be playing tricks but I don't remember dropping the beam to fit it. I do remember cursing trying to get the mounting bolts back in place though and I used slightly longer bolts to make life easier. If you do use longer bolts, make sure the exposed thread isn't long enough to hit the fuel tank as the beam moves under load! Guess what I didn't check.

I just took the rear beam off of the one I'm scraping today and I think there was an ARB attached to it so I'll post up some pics tomorrow if I get a chance.
From memory I don't think the beam would need to come off as that involves handbrake cables,brake lines AND fuel pumps that I didn't know about.

Don't need to drop it mate, just really fiddly! I did mine in a couple of hours in the car park at work, so you should be fine!

According to the manual it is a bit of bun.

ONLY two bolts and two clips to tap off, after twenty odd years and they look like this.
I'm glad mine is off the car, I wouldn't fancy trying to do when it is still on especially the clamps.

Cheers for the post mate, but my car is a poverty spec GT, so never had ARB's fitted. Looking to fit them
But the point you make remains, those sliding clips aint gonna come off the clamp without a fight there! Best of British if you ever try to take them off dude!

Careful cutting with a thin blade on an angle grinder or even a cut off wheel on a dremel would remove them. Care would have to be taken because of potential kick back as the clamps spring apart. Not something I would attempt if I didn't have experience with such tools. Eye/face protection a must!
Mine were so rotten that on one side had sheared and the other was invisible.
