This alternator what amps??

I can't figure out the amps of this alternator. I had bought a battery totally ignorant assuming the guy would keep me right and the battery is a 063 (50amp)one.

It was pointed out that my alternator should be over 45 amps but the one on the car has no identification of this having been a reconditioned one that someone has had fitted going by the service receipts. The only info is on a black plastic part might be part of the voltage regulator. It has a Bosch symbol and reads..

0290800036
2.2Pf ??
100v-

There are no other labels on it or anything obvious??

I do have another spare alternator I could steal off my project Golf that is 65amp but I just don't have much time and would prefer to clean up parts and do it properly.

Any ideas? here is one pic, I'll maybe try and get better pics..

I was just thinking what would the the car an 89 1.8 EX carbed GT have as a standard alternator?

Would it not be over 45amps?

I have looked on the internet for the part number you have listed, it is the part number for the diode/Trio on a 90 amp Bosch alternator and not the actual alternator part number.
So maybe it is a 90 amp, I couldn't find that part on any other type.

VW fitted so many different types of alternator to the Scirocco but only the later ones had 90 amp alternators.
I have retro fitted 90 amp alernators to both my Sciroccos.

Well the battery that was in the car back in November when I got it was a 70 amp one, it has clearly been used for a good few hundred miles without a hitch so I reckon I should be ok. When I have a window i'll take the alternator off and give it a clean up and more checking.

Thanks for the heads up before and your views :good:
