Clutch problem...

I am having trouble with my clutch. Basically the pedal is not returning to the top after being pressed. It stays about ¾ of the way down and moves freely within that range.
I can just manage to get it in gear, but it takes quite a lot of force and crunches badly. It seems as if it would be an issue with the pedal rather than the clutch itself however I am not familiar with clutches.
Any help is appreciated,
Ash

Check to see if the bulkhead where the cable passes through has given up, if it has it will need a reinforcement plate which can be bought from GSF and modified slightly.
I would also get a new clutch cable as it may be damaged where it passes through the bulkhead.

I had a quick look at the bulkhead and it didn't look as if anything was different. What would it look like if it has given up?
The guy at C&R said it would need welding in the near future because it was on the way out.
Would that cause this problem then?

So it has been checked by a specialist then. Does sound like the problem. You could disconnect the cable and pop the grommet out of the hole in the bulkhead and take a look.

Yeah, that was last year sometime when he mentioned it may need some welding at some point. I shall do that and take a look when I get home.
Cheers

Please, do it before it goes completely

, it's a
lot simpler and cheaper to deal with.

Been very unmotivated for some reason, however I am fairly confident that it is the bulkhead issue. I am not sure what it is supposed to look like, but it is at a funny angle and looks to have been pulled through.
Thinking of maybe taking it to C&R in Notts and having it sorted there, would I be best off doing that or will any garage suffice?

just buy the stick on repair plate. would be worth drilling the ends of the cracks to stop them spreading too

Yeah didn't know that existed but found a few posts on here the other day. Have you done it yourself? Is it a good repair? Don't want it happening again in the near future.
