Hey all hope people had a good christmas and new year.
Over the festive period there was alot of free play in my clutch pedal, not knowing much
about mechanics i got my haynes manual out and found out that adjusting the disk is
straightforward. Felt happy about my pedal not flapping and drove some more and its gone flappy
again. Ive adjusted it again but its now at its limit so i am not driving it as I think it will slip again.
My friend who normaly sorts things out is out the country traveling so I phoned a garage explained the problem
and they said I probably need a new clutch witch will cost me £400. Does it sound like the clutch needs replacing
or could there be another explanation? and if the clutch needs replacing is there anyone who could help me out
as I cant really afford £400 at the mo and dont want to part with my car either.
Any help or advice would be greatly apreciated

You should have about 20 - 25mm of free play, if you are at max on the cable then it could need a new clutch. What you could do is buy a new cable first and see if that solves the problem, if not then get in touch with lenny125 (Glenn), he lives in Hampshire and is a damn good mechanic, he fitted my new clutch.
A new LUK clutch kit would cost about £50 from GSF, less if you are paid up member! Also buying a new cable first wouldn't be a waste of money because it is worth changing at the same time.

follow the clutch cable to where it passes from the cabin thru the bulkhead to the engine bay. check for damage. i suspect the bulkhead is cracking and will require either a weld repair (preferable) or a stick on repair plate (much cheaper but not as permenant)

Plus, it might be cheaper to replace the clutch cable. Will save a lot of heart ache and faff on if that is the source of your free play!

+1 on above. You can't go wrong changing the cable anyway... Worst case scenario you end up with a used spare! Check the bulkhead. I suppose there's nothing against getting a reinforcement plate and fitting it as a preventative measure even if there's nothing wrong. ... Looks like mine's had that traeatment in the past.

After having a look in daylight, It does look as tho the hole in the
bulkhead is rusty and torn. Hopefully this job just got a whole lot
