So, totally not intending to buy another Scirocco, this one cried out to me, and I bought it off Edmundator

Sadly it's missing a few bits, nothing major, it still goes well (if you give it a push down a hill and shout "vrooom wrooom" :vcool:)

So the obvious choice at that point was to keep the car with no seats and engine, and sell my perfectly good* GT

Which left me needing one or two bits and peices.

Along came R1 GOOD (Ross) with a very nice, but rather crashed, 1990 GTII

In theory, it's savable, but it'll need a new inner wing, outer wing and front panel just for starters, so I've declared it dead. We applied special tool #536 (crowbar, 24 inch) and had a quick look at the engine...

The 1.8 carb'd engine runs sweet and has been very well looked after by Ross, having recently been treated to a new Weber, I'd be daft not to use it.

There's a minor consideration that the alternator pulley on the bottom pulley isn't running true, but at the minute I'm putting this down to it being knocked when the car was hit, so hopefully renewing this when the engine's out will solve the problem.

Next steps

Take it all off the GTII and stick it all on the GTL

Unfortunately, first I have to sort out the geographical issues, as the GTL's at the farm, and the GTII's at my mum and dad's 80 miles away. Annoyingly, I'm at my mum and dad's and my trailer's at the farm. So at this point, it all grinds to a halt for a little while...

Just as well you didn't... it's bronze in the flesh, :shocking: but it always comes up silver on cameras.

I like it better that way though, the minute I saw its natural colour I had to have it.

Very nice, I was just on Club Polo there and was admiring another Scirocco purchased by Max Max (used to have another name?) Did this car used to have a red interior? or am I confusing both cars with another?

Anyway must be nice to buy one without the body kit. I do like the body kit on my 89 GT but worry about what actually lurks under there it is so dam well fitted.
