Hey, Ive got a rattle in the dash of my mk 2 that
dissapears when I push the clutch down slightly but not all the way.
This made me think it was the rev counter, but then I reved the car
while stationary and there was no rattle.
Anyone got any ideas?
cheers stu

I've had this happen with mine too, turned out the interior mirror was slightly loose!

Could also be something in the ash tray?

I had a similar thing and it turned out to be the speedo cable, resecured it and no more rattle. It runs through the bulkhead next to the clutch cable.

Hey Mark, when you say re-secured it, where was it loose? I think I have this issue on mine..

I just unplugged it from the speedo, then plugged it back in and cable tied it to the main dash loom. Rattles and interior water leaks are a pain in the butt. :dash:

How easy is it to access the back of the dials and check the cables
are connected properly?

You need to remove the undertray and covering below the steering wheel (pretty easy)

If you want to then take the clocks out you need to unscrew the clocks surround (easy)

To take the speedo cable out, reach up from below using your left hand and feel for the speedo cable it will have a grip which you need to squeeze to remove it.

For removing the clocks altogether theres a good guide by PeteGLI in the FAQ.

PS if I can do it anyone can! Once you've done it once its really easy!
