ok im planning to tackle my stuck sun roof, it tilts but wont slide!

so any advice, hints, tip, watch outs? etc befor i rip in?

Follow the instructions in Haynes. And, if you have a digital camera, take pictures before you remove bits so that you can see how they go back again.

When I get a moment, I will scan in VW's own instructions and post them in the FAQ's.

Do not just undo every nut and bolt - in particular, do not separate the L-shaped adjustment piece from the gate guide (the long piece with the slots cut in it).

Body shop broke mine when they tried to re-assemble it - they did not follow any instructions - even though I had given them the VW Workshop Manual !!!
