Re: Introduce yourself
When my daughter bought her mk2 as a project to work on, I really liked it and it was something different to the golf, which seemed to be more popular. I had a Leon Cupra before this and I knew when it was time to get rid I had to have a white scirocco r to match!

hi david,WreckTangle wrote: ↑Sun Apr 08, 2018 5:16 pm Hello everyone. My real name is David. I joined last November when I bought my first Mk2 Scirocco, a 1991 GTII Auto. It has needed a bit of work to get it running reasonably well and there are still some things to do. It has 85k on the clock and has had 16 previous owners. I think it may have been passed on frequently because of on-going fuelling problems, now hopefully sorted.
Work done so far: new fuel filler neck and fuel filter, overhauled air intake and vacuum hoses, second-hand replacement rear wiper motor, new set of correct OEM wheel nuts, replaced rear boot lock seal.
Work to do soon: oil, coolant and ATF changes, replace rear brake drums (one wheel nut won't torque properly), replace ProSport coilovers with something more nearly OEM.
A couple of pics below.
Great forum BTW. I've already made use of some of the wealth of information here.
your car doesnt happen to live in shirley birmingham does it?

No, sorry, rural Gloucestershire. And it’s been shut away in a garage for months but out again for the first time since its MOT in June as I’ve got a rare weekend all to myself.

Re: Introduce yourself
Hi to all.
I have a 90' Tornado red scala injection as my daily driver. I'm in my 13th year of ownership of this one and have run scirocco's for last 20+ years.
I was a member of a scirocco forum many years ago but can't remember the name of it or my former screen name..
I'm located in South Birmingham & spot the odd mk2 now & then.

Re: Introduce yourself
Welcome kernobograt, power steering was never offered on the UK Scirocco, try adding a couple of psi to the front tyres and don’t even bother trying to turn the steering wheel until you start to roll...

Re: Introduce yourself
I did post a couple of bits on the forum in the last few weeks but I thought I'd do it properly this time, bought the MK2 GLS (came with MOT) on a bit of a whim, in Yorkshire, fine if you are nearby but a 4.5 hr journey with a trailer one way might be not very clever. No history what so ever, apart from a bundle of fuel receipts... bonnet has had a bit if a meeting with the roof, have started sorting things out, cambelt, shocks, carb (Pierberg), cooling, oils, as for the things to do, get it running for this year, next winter sort interior, mainly dash, rest is in remarkably good condition. User name Nutty, plate ends NUT, seems logical, real name... Willem, Dutch expat in the UK, Herefordshire, farmer, easy for a shed, not easy for time, spend way too much time on this forum looking up stuff.
