Re: weber
You could make a bracket to join the filter housing to the cambox studs... unless the flter is fouling on the bonnet, or a cable's too tight, pulling the carb over when fully retracted/extended, I can't see why it should cause a problem though.

Did you get an original VW one or was it a cheap one?jon89gt wrote:the rubber gasket that it sits on has spilt in half (only a few weeks old)
Part number for an original VW one is: S026129761E Flange £49.53+VAT retial or £33.43+VAT trade
Just replaced this on mine and went on the theory that the original lasted for 20 years so was worth a little extra!
Just make sure that when you've replaced it, as you have a Weber, the carb sits a bit higher. This means that when you refit the air filter assembly, make sure that the front support bracket extenders have been fitted (as part of the Weber conversion) else when you clip the filter assembly in, you're pulling the carb down on the front and straining the rubber base gasket to the point of splitting again.

Re: weber
yeah just got a cheap one from gsf, next time it goes will probably fork out for an original one.
ive not got the vw air filter box on, just a k & n bolt on filter that sits on top, so it not being caused by the box pulling it down, its probably just the fact its a cheap one. cheers jon
