Suspension MOT 'safe'?

Have seen people refer to their suspension (usually when for sale) as being MOT test 'safe', meaning I think that there'll be no probs with raising / lowering car.
How do you know if that is the case?
Have the ebay 'Hottuning' coilovers fitted - any idea if these are 'safe' or not?

Cheers...car is going for MOT in 10 days.

I think they're TUV approved, aren't they? That's not a guarantee they'd be suitable for British use, but it's probably a fair guide. As long as they're not leaking or excessively worn they'd probably pass an MoT anyway.

When they say mot safe, why would it fail? I know on an Imp (sorry if i keep putting stuff back to Imps, i have been driving them for 15 years, its all i know) if i lower it the side lights are below the legal limit. Thankfully most MOT test stations are generally not aware of this. When they designed the imp, even the designers overlooked the height, it got picked up so late in the design process instead of moving the side lights they raised the suspension, which is why they look a bit 'surprised' as standard.

Lowering the Rocco over the summer money permitting, as it does need it. They look uber-cool a bit lower. Would be interested to see what is classed as illegal. :mafia:

Hi thanks for the replies - didn't mean safe in terms of passing MOT though; more in terms of the springs not unseating when it's lowered off the ramp again (as some other sets come with helper springs). Is this a possibility with coilovers such as the ones I've got - excuse my ignorance!

Cheers,
Dan

most decent test stations have a ramp that is sunk into the floor so it is level to drive on to. most problems with springs not seating correctly that i've come accross have been from people using short springs over standard length shocks

Never had a problem getting the old car Mot'd and that was pretty low so I wouldn't worry
