Has anybody got any engine bay pictures of an early 1.1L?... all the pictures ive found are all 1.5's
Or is it a big block 1.1L and different from the small golf engines?
Cheers
Winston

It's the same as the Golf smallblock engine. I must have a pic somewhere but it's basically same as the Golf.

there were no small block sciroccos in the uk, they were all 1.5/1.6
here's a pick of a 1.3 small block in a french mk1.

Looks like a late small block, at least compared to the Golf which as far as I know is the same definition.
Early (up to '75) cars has the remote air filter.
Early cars also came with no servo (option on small block, standard on big block), no low brake fluid warning switch, separate coolant expansion tank, different shape heat shield on the manifold, etc
Here's a pic of my '74 Golf as comparison
