Burning oil

My 16v engine is burning oil, im getting blueish/white smoke out the exhaust and my oil level is going down.
The thing is all 4 spark plugs look absolutly fine, they have a nice coffee colured tinge which sugguests its not the piston rings letting oil into the combustion chamber.
Could it be the valve stem seals on the exhaust valves, so oil is burning when the exhaust gases pass through?

If you get blue smoke under load then it's usually piston rings. If you get it when you back off it's usually valve stem oil seals. Is it definitely not leaking it?

Im pretty sure its not leaking. I only ever really notice the smoke when I rev it at idle and when I come to a junction or something. Never notice it while driving.

Do you get blue smoke after it's been left standing for a few hours or so as well? If so it's valve stem seals.

Pulling up to junctions you're probably on the overrun, which normally means vacuum sucking oil past the stem seals.

What sort of oil are you running?

It's worth cleaning out the breather pipes and where it blows back into the air filter.
