Steering lock barrel removal

A few months ago, I had to steal my own car due to a lost key, since then, I've found the key. I had to damage the steering lock housing, but didn't damage the locks, so now would like to put it all back together with a new housing and the original barrel.

My problem is I'd like to get the barrel out of the housing. I've had a look at the FAQ, but by the looks of it on the car on there the barrel and housing were discarded as a unit, so it doesn't say how to part the two.

I've taken the electrickery off the back, knocked the plate off the side and stripped the steering lock pin and mechanism out, but I can't find how to release the barrel? Does it just tap out from the back, or is it a special tool job?

IIRC you have to drill a hole in the casing to enable you to release a locating device, then it pushes out.
Haynes has a diagram showing where to drill.

:yahoo:

Thanks for that. Don't suppose anyone's got their Haynes and a scanner to hand? My book's 100 miles away from me and the car (damn house moves).

Legendary! Many thanks.

Any chance of this being added to the FAQ?
