Will it do the job required on our good ole 8v engine?

Cheers... would be popping down today and grabbing one. I have an urgent desire to compress valve springs.

You need to make sure it has the little tubey adaptor thingy on the end that looks like a normal g-clamp on that link. Some of them come with different heads. The scirocco heads have recessed valve springs so you need an adaptor to get to the collets.

What you're after is basically a metal tube with some cutout "windows" in it. Haynes even shows you how to make your own, but the last compressor i used had one on already

Comes with a few adapters, spoke to the dude at my local shop and it DOES do the job. He's got a 2 litre goof.

That one is alot better, I used it on both a 8v and 16v head and its good.
Those smaller ones are abit of a ball ache imo.
