Scirocco Register

ok has anyone seen this before my fan will only blow hot air out of the middle dash board vents and cold out the side vents. doesnt matter where i put the controls having to close the middle vents but the my dash geting hot! not good in this weather wont be so bad in the winter!

Any ideas befor i start pulling my dash to bits.

Someone will be able to confirm, but its likely that restrictor plate which sits between the engine and heater matrix is not closing all the way. The restrictor plate is plumbed inline on coolant loop. undo it, and make sure it closes fully when the heater setting is on cold.
I found it when I was taking my engine out and it took me a couple of mins to work out what it was for..

Yup, had this problem with mine. easy way to test this is to remove it, set it to closed position and blow through - if it is that that's knackered, you'll feel little to no resistance

Dunno if they're still availbe from VW, but last time i got one from a scrappy and i think it cost me about 50p!

Just had a quick look in my haynes manual doesnt show much, whats the best way to get at the restrictor plate .
