Low coolant/water effects

Post by KB88 »

Apart from the obvious (i.e running hot) how would the car perform with low water/coolant in the system??

Thanks

i'd imagine it would be the same, just hotter as you say.
Why do you ask Mike?

Firstly, why would you want to run the engine if you knew the coolant was low? All engines (water cooled) are designed to run with coolant to cool the block and head, I would imagine that constantly running hotter than normal would cause things to go pear shaped eventually.

heater stops blowing hot air, engine starts to loose power, hoses blow or head warps and gasket fails, then i come along and won't tow you until i've taken the p!$$
