Heater fuse

My heater seems to blow warm air even when the slider is set to cold and all the other switches are off. It's not a massive problem, but it would be nice to be able to drive with the windows/sunroof closed when the weather is average!
My handy awesome idea was to just remove the fuse that works the heater, but my fusebox diagram appears to be in German for some reason. I'm sure it was in English on the old Scirocco!
So this leads me to 2 questions:
1: Which fuse do I remove to disable the heater.
2: What else will it disable? Thermostat etc? I'd rather not disable the gauge that tells me if the engine is cooking in this weather!

get someone to move the temp control while you look int he engine bay. there is a valve in one of the cooling pipes above the gearbox that should move. if it does, then the valve will want changing, if it doesn't then it's probably the cable either come unhooked at one end or broken.
removing the fuse will stop the fan working, but won't stop warm air coming out

Awesome, thanks. Is it an easy job to repair/replace or is it a real pig to get to?

shouldn't be too bad to get to. as far as i am aware they are still available from the dealers, but you may have to lie about what car it is. it will have those nice knuckle eating spring clips on though

I have a set of hte cables on a scrapper you can have for the postage. :)

I'm about to change the valve on mine... rang the dealers and the valve's still available (asked for a "92 scirocco heater valve") for £28 ish. My dad has a NOS Rover one that i'll be tweeking to fit on mine though...
